today is my first 10hour day, my boss popped the news to us yesterday that we will now be working 4 10 hour days. I am really happy about it, it means I get home an hour later but also means I will be missing rush hour traffic on my way home and get Mondays off regularly. Unless I want a Friday, no big deal. This job is good.
This weekend Jenny (my wife) me, and Kaya (the dog) went to wyoming to do some camping. We go to camp at a great spot. Even though it was a state campground with people crowding all the good sites we found one that was somehow hidden and perfect. It looked over the Glendo reservoir

Its hard to tell where our site was because the water is about 20 feet higher this year.
We could walk down to the water and sit with our feet in it. Kaya loved it. All she wanted to do was swim and chase sticks and partially submerged trees, and she did for at least an hour and a half. But she paid for it…she is the sorest dog i have ever seen and her feet got cut up on the rocks so she’s just limping around.
The next day I got to ride my friends ATV and Jen got to take a helicopter ride. Just a couple benefits of being in the company of good friends with nice toys.
So in summery good weekend.
Pictures to be posted soon.
Its been a real busy couple of weeks (its funny you dont hear a lot of people say they had a real boring couple of weeks, is it because we just are a busy culture, or we dont realize how much time we spend watching TV)
I have been doing a lot though. I went to Moab, Utah, and Amarillo, TX for work. I got to log time piloting a helicopter for the first time which was so hard and so fun. I also had my jeep brake on me and then did something that seemed even less possible than flying a helicopter I bought a new truck, I mean like less than 30,000 miles new. So my old ‘67 and the jeep need to be sold. Also I go to New Mexico this weekend for easter dinner with the folks. Then Monday I fly to amarillo again to work, but this time I get to take a Cessna. I get to fly myself. (as long as the weather is good) Pretty cool. So thats it.
PS I also watch a lot of movies.
I think I want to get a bike motor. For my commute to and from work, it would be awesome.
Its cold, and windy and Jen and I are trying to decide if we want to go outside and do something, or stay inside warm and watch more arrested development. Its seems weird but I feel socially obligated to go out on a Friday night, maybe because this year is the first year in 6 that I have them off and I feel like I need to take advantage of it. Do I feel like its an obligation because so many of my friends are still working Friday nights? Or maybe its because I wonder if this schedule I have will someday disappear and I will be working weekends again? Will I look back and wonder at all those Friday nights I stayed in as a regret? Well I also got to think that someday I will have kids then I really wont go out on Fridays…yikes, I think thats the thought to scare me into the cold. I will probably just cruse a book store and not buy anything, but at least I didn’t need to get a babysitter.
Yeah chama, for those of you who dont know where it is, its about 8 miles south of the colorado/new mexico border. I was working so the owners of the lodge I stayed at the night before the helicopter got there took me out for dinner. they told me all about the town of chama, the judge works at the liquor store, the mayor is the local DJ, its very small town. As we were eating at the nicest establishment in town, it was empty because of the local high school rivalry basketball game. Only in Chama is what they always said, when there sons friend married at the age of 16 to the mayors daughter.
I am really happy to be home after a long trip, to sleep in my own bed and be greeted at the door buy a wife and dog who missed me…well it doesn’t get better than that. Here are a couple of pictures from my time.

PS thanks for a you who read my blog, its nice to know you are keeping up on my exciting life.
PSS I finished survivor, and zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance and was really happy with both books, I am thinking about starting to read more modern books, with authors who are still alive.
We got a day off from doing wildlife counts, we are in trinidad, CO for the next 6 days. Its a strange little town, but if feels nice not to be going to a different town tonight. So far I have stayed the night in, Colorado Springs, Limon, Burlington, and now Trinidad. I look at a map and I think I have traveled on almost 1/3 of Colorado. Which is pretty cool considering I have only lived here since July. I will try and upload a couple of photos from the past couple of weeks, but I am using the hotels computer so I am not sure if it will work.
Right now I miss my wife and dog, and coming home at night, but still feel lucky to have a job that I like and feel extra lucky I am happy with life right now. Since I have been out I have been reading a lot and finished one book so far, Chuck Palahniuk, Survivor and recommended book from Ben Genson. I am also reading Zen and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance, And Demons, by Dostoevsky. So the reading is doing me good. I am good are you doing good? I miss you who read this. Ben and Shalom.
This is Mount Adams (At 13,941 feet in altitude, Mount Adams is ranked as the 66th highest mountain in the state of Colorado, according to wiki)and maybe Crestone Peak

Check out the wind at the peaks…over 100mph according to our helicopter pilot who happened to be flying up in it.

Well this is another mobile blog so it won’t be long.
This week at work the guy I usually work with us gone since he is my boss I am working on my own sort of, which kind of stresses me out since I need to stay busy, even though there is lots to do I am timid to jump into projects I am not familiar with, but I only need to go through one more day like this until jay gets back, so here’s hoping for a quick one.
This week has been so long and its only tuesday. Jen is going to ohio this weekend and I am thinking about going camping by myself. I could also go back to my parents but its a longer drive for that.
I also took my first helicopter ride today, very smooth.
